About this Event

In January, Speakeasy Ideas launched an ambitious new program, “Tragedy & Triumph: The Story of Slavery in the United States.” The plan was to meet one evening per month, for ten months, live and in person, with Dr. Thomas Krannawitter walking the audience through the unparalleled drama of Americans abolishing slavery. [Watch the commercial for the event at the below]

The January and February chapters were smashing successes! More than a hundred people gathered to socialize, laugh, and learn. Then our host venue, The Soiled Dove Underground, announced it was closing in response to news of the coronavirus.

So, we are improvising. We are going virtual!

Our first live, online event was this past Thursday evening, where we began a review the first two chapters of “Tragedy & Triumph.” Video of that presentation is available for purchase on our website, here.

This Tuesday, March 31, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM Mountain Time, we are going to finish that review in advance of Chapter 3.

For those who were disappointed to miss either the January or February chapters, here’s another opportunity! Also, we’ve already heard from some who were in attendance for the first two chapters that they’d love to go over those topics again.

No one planned for the disruption we are experiencing right now, yet, we can make the best of it and prepare for the upcoming presentations of chapters 3-10 of “Tragedy & Triumph.” Whether we offer more online events will depend on the response we get from you, so please sign up by clicking the green “Register” button to purchase your tickets to this event, and encourage your friends to sign up, too.

With panic and fear swirling around us—as governments at all levels tighten control over our lives and businesses, as productivity comes to a grinding halt, as politicians promise to spend more of other people’s money—there’s no better time to remind ourselves of the ideas from which human freedom, flourishing, and prosperity flow. If you are quarantined at home anyway, we encourage you to hop online Thursday evening and join our first virtual presentation of “Tragedy & Triumph” by Speakeasy Ideas.
