Who Are We?

Thomas Krannawitter -- Speakeasy Ideas

Thomas Krannawitter, Ph.D.

Dr. Thomas Krannawitter holds a Ph.D. in political science from the Claremont Graduate University, specializing in American political thought, classical political philosophy, and political economy.

He has taught at Claremont McKenna College, Hillsdale College, and George Mason University, among other places. He’s one of the principal instructors for the Leadership Program of the Rockies, based in Colorado, and he frequently advises businesses and charitable organizations on communications, cultural development, and strategy.

Dr. Krannawitter has testified before state legislatures, though he doesn’t put much faith in politicians. That’s among the reasons why he focuses on teaching citizens, helping business owners, and subtly improving American culture. When Americans of all stripes demand better from their elected representatives, they’ll get better representatives, better policies, better government.

Dr. Krannawitter is now President of Speakeasy Ideas, combining a deep knowledge of political and economic history, an insatiable appetite for learning, and an extraordinary gift for teaching the great ideas that have fueled human progress.

Dr. Krannawitter’s research and published writings have ranged from politics to constitutional law to economics to social commentary, from specific historic events to timeless philosophic questions. His 2008 book, Vindicating Lincoln, was featured by The History Book Club and endorsed by the United States Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. His 2014 book, Crisis of Our House Divided: A Guide To Talking Politics Without The Noise, applies the lessons of Lincoln to our challenges today.

His most recent writing effort, Save the Swamp: Career Guidebook for Budding Bureaucrats, is unlike his earlier books. Swamp is funny. It’s satire. It’s written for a popular, not an academic audience. Feel free to check out Dr. Krannawitter’s author page at Amazon.

Dr. Krannawitter enjoys the outdoors so long as there’s a hotel not too far away. He’s fond of discussing serious and not-so-serious matters over an evening cocktail, and occasionally he can be tempted with a cigar. Everything useful, everything good for human beings begins as an idea. That’s why Dr. Krannawitter focuses on ideas, distills them, simplifies them, and packages them in ways that others find valuable and easy to use. That’s why he helped to found Speakeasy Ideas.
