Who Are We?Patriots all.
Thomas Krannawitter, Ph.D.
Dr. Krannawitter brings to Speakeasy Ideas a deep knowledge of the history of political systems and an extraordinary gift for teaching the great ideas of human improvement and progress.
He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the Claremont Graduate University, specializing in American political thought and classical political philosophy. He has taught at Claremont McKenna College, Hillsdale College, and George Mason University among other places. He is one of the principal instructors for the Leadership Program of the Rockies, and frequently advises organizations on persuasive communications, development, and critical thinking.
His 2008 book, Vindicating Lincoln, was featured by The History Book Club and endorsed by the U.S. Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. His most recent book applies the lessons of Lincoln to our challenges today, Crisis of Our House Divided: A Guide To Talking Politics Without The Noise.
After many years as a classroom instructor, Dr. Krannawitter now helps Americans speak to one another with civility, instead of past each other with hostility. His research has focused on creating environments of civil trust: helping people to help themselves by helping others, productively, so that together we can solve the real problems we face.
He enjoys discussing serious and not-so-serious matters over an evening cocktail, and is among the original brain trust of Speakeasy Ideas.
